Our dream is to be able to help people all over the world one day, but for now we are a small organization and above all, we are just beginning!  We have chosen to start off with Tibet and its splendid population that for over 50 years now hasn’t had a home so, therefore, risks losing its culture.  The Chinese government is doing all it can to take both away from them.  Thanks to India’s generosity however, the Tibetans have found a home here.  So, that is why we are putting all our effort here in India. We will do all that we can to help the refugee colonies spread out all over this sub-continent.

Why are we helping Tibetans when there are dozens of populations all over the world  that are oppressed for one reason or another?

Actually there are many reasons, and among them there is the old saying, “you’ve got to start somewhere”.

We firmly believe that the Tibetan people need our help, but at the same time they are also able to give us … help!  For centuries Tibet was closed to the rest of the world.  Its people studied and meditated, thought and practiced, cultivating a knowledge about the world around us and about Man that no other population has ever been able to reveal.  From this deep immersive research on how to live peacefully, a way of life that today we call “Tibetan philosophy” or “Tibetan Buddhism” was born.

A religion on one side … a way of living on the other.  Tibet and Tibetans are able to give everyone on this entire planet lessons on life … which is partially thanks to their status of exile, or refugees. Before Tibet was invaded by China, its rich philosophy risked being left behind and forgotten about. Thanks to their leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, their country, called the Rooftop of the World, their philosophy and their situation is now well known all over the world.

Ok, we admit it!  Maybe there is touch of egoism in our choice of helping the Tibetans.  We will  help them for as long as they exist, to helpl us!

We don’t want all their wisdom to be lost in the dry and materialistic world that we live in today.  We will not let old people die of hunger or let the weak die of illnesses easily cured.  We will not let their culture die out because there is not enough money for their teachers’ salaries.  We will not let justice die out just because we are not interested enough to uncoveri wrongdoings!

We of Rimè ONLUS want to be the food, the medicine, the books, the schools, the teachers, and the lawyers for that population, who we believe to be ever so special, but that is inevitably dying off a little everyday because of the lack of these things.
